Hollmann blasts press after win

CAIRO: Zamalek coach Reiner Hollmann criticized the media after his side overturned a two-goal deficit to defeat Telecom Egypt 4-2 in the Egyptian League on Friday.
The Germain tactician made no secret of his frustration towards what he describes as the unfair criticism of Zamalek by the press.
"I don't know why the press keeps attacking us, he told the post-match press conference.
"The press did not have such attitude towards me when I was in charge of Ahly many years ago. Why they are acting like that nowadays.
"They should have supported us following our elimination from the CAF Champions League.
The Cairo giants' chairman Mamdouh Abbas recently revealed that the club would sue two newspapers for launching a vicious attack on the team's players.
Hollmann called on the fans to excuse him for Zamalek's inconsistent results, citing the team's limited options.
"Today, I had to play without eight players, including the injured Mohamed Aboul-Ella and defender Wissem El-Abdi, who did not take part in the game for disciplinary reasons.
"The substitutes' bench included many strikers, but I did not find any recognized midfielders or defenders, he added.
Zamalek recently reiterated their faith in the 59-year-old boss, who took over at the club in the summer following the resignation of Ruud Krol.
On Saturday, Abbas said a win over Tersana in the upcoming Egyptian League match would prove to be a turning point in the domestic campaign.
The White Knights will climb into top spot if they overcome Tersana in a rescheduled league game on Tuesday.
"A win over Tersana would be a huge morale-booster and a turning point in our league campaign, Abbas told Zamalek's official website on Saturday.
"It would put us back on track to compete for the title that we last won in 2004.
