Man murders wife over a cup of tea; the poorer steal from the poor
CAIRO: This week's crime pages were on fire.
A housewife and a child met their deaths in a house fire in Bani Mazar. A woman set herself on fire after an argument with her husband's family after just 15 days of marriage. Investigations confirmed that disagreements had arisen between the woman and her husband's family due to her illicit impregnation before marriage. She took revenge on her husband's family by setting the house on fire.
In a bizarre crime in Hadayek Al-Qoppa, a man employed unusual means to get revenge on his neighbor. He soaked his own body with kerosene, set it on fire and then rushed to embrace his neighbor. The victim was able to escape and the worker was transferred to the hospital with extensive burns.
Electric shock took the lives of an old woman and a young child. The elderly grandmother could not tolerate her grandchild s crying. She picked her up and went into the bathroom to continue washing clothes. Both of them suffered electric shocks and fell dead; the Al-Salam police department uncovered the details of the tragedy and the absence of any criminal activity.
A fire completely destroyed two microbuses in Imbaba's main bus station just before iftar. The sound of the exploding tires horrified civilians in the neighborhood but they rallied together and worked with the specialized authorities to put out the fire that could have potentially spread to the rest of the vehicles.
A man turned himself in to Ain Shams police station after murdering his own wife; the man said that he had asked her to make him a cup of tea when he woke up, but she refused, making him so angry that he slaughtered her with a kitchen knife.
In Nasr City, a young police officer decided to take revenge on a pharmacist by breaking into his pharmacy, causing damages estimated at over LE 50,000. The pharmacist had previously fired the officer's girlfriend for negligence on the job. The young woman was angry at getting fired and asked her boyfriend to take revenge on her boss.
Claiming that he was even poorer than they were, a man stole charity money from three women. The poor women said that they wait for the holy month of Ramadan to receive financial aid. Surprisingly, the criminal didn't deny taking the money; he admitted he had committed the crime, but said that he needed the money too as he was going through a financial crisis.
In a car accident in Giza, an accountant and his wife were killed and two others were severely injured. In separate accidents in Menufiyya, Sohag and Hurghada, four others died, while eight were injured. Investigations are underway.
Al-Akhbar newspaper reported that 339 men had been apprehended in an attempt to immigrate illegally to Greece, where they had been promised job opportunities.
The spirit of the holy Ramadan didn't prevent a 58-year-old man from drug dealing. He was caught with 41 pieces of hashish that he was about to sell.
