Imprisoned politician Ayman Nour has returned to jail from hospital without having stent implants inserted in his arteries because of a disagreement over his care, his wife said on Sunday. Gameela Ismail told Reuters authorities had not allocated enough time for Nour to prepare for the procedure, or to receive proper follow-up care afterwards. They just wanted to get him finished and return him back to prison, she said, adding that she had objected to Nour undergoing what she said was rushed treatment. Stents are small tubes used to prop open arteries, and the procedure to implant them is not normally dangerous. Nour, 41, was taken back to jail on Saturday evening, hours after being admitted to a state-owned hospital in Cairo where the procedure was to be conducted. His wife, who must provide the stents doctors will use, had previously said she expected him to be in hospital for up to a week. She could not say when the procedure would be rescheduled, or if it would take place at the same hospital. She also objected to heavy security in place at the hospital where he was to undergo the treatment. Nour, who came a distant second to Mubarak in the election, is serving a five-year term for filing forged papers to set up his El-Ghad (Tomorrow) Party in 2004. He claims the charges were fabricated to drive him out of political life. Reuters
