ADDIS ABABA: The Ethiopia Football Federation has been fined by the Confederation of African Football $10,000 for fan violence during Monday's group stage match against Zambia in South Africa. The fans threw plastic vuvuzelas onto the field after their goalkeeper Jemal Tassew was sent off with a red card in the first half of their 1-1 draw with the defending champions. They also launched missiles of some kind onto the pitch. Half of the fine has been suspended on condition Ethiopia are not found guilty of a similar offense at the tournament. Tassew has also been banned for two matches for his violent conduct. The 23-year-old was sent off 10 minutes before half-time after launching a flying, high-footed tackle on Zambia's Chisamba Lungu. Both players ended up on the floor and Tassew was being taken off the pitch on a stretcher when he received his red card. BN
