Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Saturday instructed officials to expedite electricity supply to the New Delta agricultural project and the wider farming sector, amid mounting regional and global pressures on food security. The directives came during a meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Essmat, Minister of Petroleum Karim Badawy, and Executive Director of the Future of Egypt Sustainable Development Authority Bahaa El Ghannam. During the meeting, Sisi reviewed progress on providing power to new agricultural zones, particularly through the New Delta Initiative, a flagship land reclamation project. The discussions also focused on the construction of transformer stations and coordination between the electricity and petroleum ministries to secure fuel for power generation. Sisi also followed up on Egypt's National Integrated Sustainable Energy Strategy to 2040 and the National Renewable Energy Strategy, highlighting the need to boost clean energy output, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and strengthen the national power grid. He stressed the importance of ensuring stable fuel supplies, expanding the share of renewables in the energy mix, and fast-tracking investment in energy infrastructure. Sisi also called for accelerating clean energy projects and localising related industries to reinforce the country's long-term energy security. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: Y.Yasser
