RAMALLAH: In Hebron, the largest city in the West Bank, Israeli settlers set a Palestinian car ablaze and spray-painted hateful slogans nearby early Monday morning, according to Ma'an News Agency. The graffiti left behind read “price tag" and “settlers of Susiya," referring to an Israeli settlement situated in the South Hebron Hills, said Ma'an. Susiya is significant because it is situated next to a Palestinian village (also named Susiya), whose residents have executed several successful and highly publicized protests against the continual theft of their land and destruction of their property by soldiers and settlers. The car, property of a local Palestinian man, was burned entirely. Armed settlers entered the H1 (Palestinian) area of Hebron, legally off-limits to Israeli citizens, with spray paint and flammable materials before spray painting the graffiti and burning the car, YNetnews.com reported on Monday. “Price tag" refers to a string of attacks on Palestinians and vandalisms against their property thought to be committed by Israeli settlers. The attacks are usually carried out in East Jerusalem or the occupied West Bank. Over 500,000 Israeli settlers live in East Jerusalem and the West Bank, serving as serious impediments to the potential of a two-state solution. Their presence is considered illegal under international law.
