RAMALLAH: Before dawn Sunday morning, Israeli settlers vandalized eight cars in a Palestinian neighborhood of East Jerusalem, Ha'aretz reports. The assailants spray painted “Price tag, Gaza," on the cars, referring to a series of attacks and vandalisms committed by Jewish settlers on Palestinian property, mostly in East Jerusalem and the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Other recent attacks have occurred in Susiya, villages surrounding Nablus, Hebron, and elsewhere. In one instance in September, settlers spray painted “Jesus is a monkey" on a monastery door in the West Bank village of Latrun. Although the Israeli government officially condemns price tag attacks, critics argue that let has been done to arrest and charge the assailants. Others add that the Israeli government has encouraged radical settlers. In an editorial published by Electronic Intifada, Phillip Bato argued: Following an October attack in which a Palestinian taxi was set on fire, the Jerusalem chief of police ordered the formation of a special investigative unit for price tag attacks.
