KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's Penang International Airport is back to functioning at 100 percent, airport officials said on Monday afternoon after several flights were delayed as a result of a blackout at the arrival hall earlier in the day. The electricity cut had left services in the airport disrupted for a few hours early in the morning, but by early afternoon all was back to normal. Arriving passengers were told not to disembark and stay in the aircraft as the immigration desks at the hall were congested with passengers. Senior airport manager Mohd Arif Jaafar told reporters that the supply was disrupted at about 8 AM due to renovation works at the terminal. The airport said that 139 passengers on an AirAsia flight from Jakarta, were forced to wait on the plane for around an hour until they could disembark. Other international flights to Bangkok, Hong Kong and Guangzhou were delayed about an hour. The blackout affected the Immigration counters at the international departure hall resulting in the international passengers being ushered to the arrival hall to have their passports stamped. Domestic flights were not affected.
