CAIRO: Faiza Abul-Naga, Egypt's Minister of State for Planning and International Cooperation, said that the situation for the government is settled on what has been emphasized repeatedly by Prime Minister Kamal Ganzoury, and as confirmed by the government over and over again. She said that the “survival of the government or [its] dismissal is only the right of Field Marshal Mohammed Hussein Tantawi,” the head of the ruling military junta. She said that it is he “who has the authority to form or dismiss the government, according to the constitutional declaration.” This came in response to a question during a press conference on Monday, over what was said by one of the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood, which argued that the Islamic group could revoke the nomination of MB top leader Khairat el-Shater for the presidency if the government submitted its resignation. Minister Abul-Naga added that the government “feels the pulse of the street and expresses it and that the Prime Minister and Ministers had sworn to protect the homeland, after taking into account the national security.” Worries in Egypt, analysts have told Bikyamasr.com in recent weeks, are that the military rulers will bar any real transition of power to a civilian government in any new future scenario.
