LAGOS: Tecno Telecoms Limited, a Chinese mobile phone manufacturer in Nigeria, has finally re-opened its customer service center after it was initially clamped down by the NCC in Lagos. The center was sealed by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) due to failure to seek approval for over 35 of its 40 mobile phone models sold to consumers in the country. Chidi Okonkwo, the Deputy General Manager of the company said that the center was reopened after the company sent applications to NCC for the type approval of the affected phones. He, however, assured the company's customers of their commitment to provide quality mobile phone products in Nigeria. He further disclosed that the company was sealed because it did not receive adequate information to prepare it for the approval ahead of time. He added that the company had always worked with Standard Organization of Nigeria before bringing its products into the country. Okonkwo reiterated, “We did not have enough information as to the right thing to do about type approval, so we started processing the type approval document before NCC bounced on us. We submitted our application forms to the NCC office in Lagos, but we found out that the application forms submitted had not reach Abuja as at the time they arrived. So what we did was to fast track and facilitate the movement of the form to Abuja, and we explained and NCC acknowledged the application forms for our various models before they decided to unseal our office few days ago.” BM ShortURL: http://goo.gl/RDddU Tags: China, Nigeria, Techno, Telecom Section: East Asia, Nigeria, Tech, West Africa
