SANA'A: According to security sources in Taiz, Yemen's second most populous city and a flashpoint of the revolution revealed on Sunday that an American citizen had been killed by a group of armed men in the early hours of the morning. The man, who was the director of one of the city's language schools, was gunned down as a motorbike sped through the street, mercilessly aiming at him. Eyewitnesses recalled that the men were covering their faces and could not be identified. It is still unclear as to why the institute's director was being targeted and if the motive of the attack was linked to his nationality. With a breakdown in security, Yemen is witnessing a surge in violence, with citizens across the country taking matters in their own hands and resolving their personal conflicts by way of arms. Only yesterday in Sana'a, the capital, three men were shot in a Qat market as they argued with a merchant over a price dispute.
