CAIRO (dpa) – AC Milan defender Philippe Mexes received a three-game ban for punching Marco Borriello during a Series A game which the Devils drew 1-1 with guests Juventus at the weekend. The League of professional clubs (Lega Serie A) said Monday that a sports judge based his ruling on television footage showing the French full-back hit the striker in the ribs as both players were away from the action. Milan vice president Adriano Galliani received a warning and a team manager was suspended for one game for insulting Juve officials at half-time. The two managers are said to have had a harsh confrontation with Juve coach Antonio Conte over a debatable call that denied Milan a second goal as they were leading 1-0. Several rude clashes took place during the game Saturday at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, and a general row was narrowly avoided after the whistle. With 13 games left, title holders Milan retained a one-point lead over the Turin side, who have a game in hand.
