There was little controversy over the top two spots in the latest Bowl Championship Series standings released late on Sunday evening, with LSU and Oklahoma State securely in position to face-off for the national championship in January. However, one-loss Alabama maintained its chances to steal a spot in the title game by coming in at number 3, ahead of two unbeatens, Stanford and Boise State. Coming off a grinding victory over then #2 Alabama, LSU is the sure pick to compete for the title, but Alabama could move into the top two again with an Oklahoma State loss, who still has to face Oklahoma. Boise State and Stanford are getting no love from the computers and are in fourth and fifth. They will need some help to get into the top two, but with a few weeks left in the season, anything is possible. LSU coach Les Miles said he welcomed a rematch with Alabama for the national title. “We have a lot of work to do to get there,” Miles told ESPN.com's Mark Schlabach on Sunday. “But if we get to the back end and the rest of the country has a hard time making a case that they're as good as Alabama, I'm all for playing Alabama in the game.” Oklahoma is sixth. Oregon, which plays Stanford on Saturday, is seventh.
