As the Nigerian telecommunications market continues to show its promise, ZEN Africa this week made its debut in the African country. In a press statement from the company, it said that it offers a 15-month warranty . Company General Manager Girish Sharma described the introduction of 6 new smart phone products as “affordable, trendy and quality products backed with the know-how to entrench easy customer adaptation.” Despite the numerous other telecom companies now operating in Nigeria, Sharma said his company was not going to be discouraged by the mobile phone market competition, adding that ZEN “stands out” in the competition. The press statement said that as a leading brand in smart phone devices, ZEN offers its products “at unparalleled affordable rates to give Nigerian mobile phone users an extreme value for money.” Not everyone is convinced, however, that ZEN will be met with success in Nigeria. John Serami, a ministry of communications official and former IT consultant at Siemens, said that Zen must “be wary of too much confidence. It is a long road ahead and while they have solid products, it is hard to convince people to change.” But Sharm countered, saying “Zen Mobile is here to offer Nigerians a double-edge advantage of quality phones made with best technology which is comparable to any other leading brands in the world at unbelievably affordable prices.” BM
