CAIRO: Acer Computer Middle East has announced that from January 2007 there will be a new country manager overseeing operations in Egypt, KSA and the East Africa region. Having registered 84.8 percent year on year growth in notebook sales in Egypt for Q3 2006, Acer has been steadily consolidating its number three position in the Egyptian market over the last few years, however, Shashank Sharma, new country manager for KSA, Egypt and East Africa, is setting his sights on even higher goals. "Acer is undergoing massive growth with Egypt, and the wider Middle East is no exception to that, said Sharma. "I am keen to assert strong team-building skills fostered in my previous role, and applying this across all the new territories under my responsibility will ensure they are consistently and coherently administered. I believe this will help mirror, if not better, Acer's global growth rate here in the Middle East, he added. Sharma arrives from Acer's South Africa office where he was previously the commercial manager for the country including the southern African territories and Mauritius. "As the biggest market in the Middle East, Egypt must become an integral part in the region's IT growth and having previous responsibility for a multiple market portfolio across southern Africa, I look forward to the new challenges and opportunities here in the Middle East, added Sharma.
