Morocco's mobile phone users grew by 26.36 percent to 31.98 million at the end of the 2010, compared to 25.31 million a year earlier, boosting penetration to 101.49 percent from 81.18 percent over the same period, according to telecommunications regulator ANRT. Maroc Telecom had a 52.81 percent share of mobile customers at the end of 2010, followed by Medi Telecom with 33.74 percent and Wana Corporate with 13.45 percent. This compares to 60.34 percent, 32.27 percent and 2.39 percent a year earlier. The high proportion of prepaid customers remains unchanged at 96 percent. Fixed telephony customers grew by 6.63 percent to 3.75 million at 31 December 2010 from 3.52 million a year earlier, raising penetration to 11.90 percent from 11.28 percent. Residential customers account for 85.37 percent of fixed lines, followed by businesses (10.75%) and payphones (3.88%). Wana Corporate has a 66.72 percent share of fixed line customers, followed by Maroc Telecomm (32.83%) and Medi Telecom (0.45%). Morocco had 1.87 million internet customers at the end of 2010, up 57.29 percent on 1.19 million a year earlier. 3G mobile accounts for 73.2 percent of Internet users and ADSL for 26.65 percent. The number of 3G mobile subscribers nearly doubled to 1.37 million at the end of 2010 from 707,137 a year earlier. ADSL users grew by 4.86 percent to 497,640 at 31 December 2010, compared to a 1.7 percent decrease to 474,561 in 2009.
