CAIRO: The Youth of the Revolution coalition issued a statement on Friday calling for building and organizing Egypt's affairs upon the legitimacy of the revolution, especially during the transitional period. The group is comprised of young men and women, including representatives from various political movements such as the Muslim Brotherhood, supporters of Mohamed ElBaradei, and the 6 April Youth. “We believe that the continuation of the current government is not commensurate with the nature of this critical period as it should be based on a revolutionary legitimacy. Therefore, we are asking for an interim technocratic government to run the state during the transitional period. We demand the government be headed by a civilian popular figure that is credible for the public,” the coalition said in a statement. The coalition pointed out that its members do not have anything against all the elements that worked for the former regime, and welcomed the presence Samir Farag to take over the Ministry of Information, Samir Radwan as the current Minister of Finance and Faiza Abul-Naga and the Ministry of International Cooperation in the transitional government. The armed forces, which is in charge of ruling the country since former president Hosni Mubarak stepped down on February 11, issued a decree to form a panel to amend six critical articles of the Egyptian Constitution, keeping the current government formed by Mubarak`s regime, headed by Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq in charge of ruling the country`s affairs until September.
