Al-Robeky city for leather tanneries seeks exports of $ one billion by the end of 2020 after city is running at full production capacity by the end of 2019, head of the leather industry center Yehia Zalat said. Zalat told Amwal Al Ghad that 90 percent of the new city infrastructure and utilities has been finished along with establishing 113 factories on area of 825 metre square. Al-Robeky city cost has reached 1.13 billion Egyptian pounds up until the present, he added. He further noted that the Al-Robeky has 15 plants running at full production capacity, adding that it has its own factories that produce classic, men, women and children shoes and, as well as a training center. The city aims at brining all leather tanneries, currently in Magra El-Oyoun, in one place to become an integrated city for leather. The state will bear the cost of transferring tanneries. In 2014, former interim President Adly Mansour approved the allocation of 389.6 acres in eastern Cairo for the benefit of the Ministry of Industry for an industrial zone for leather tanneries.
