Saudi Arabia tops list of crops importers from Egypt at end-September

Saudi Arabia has seized 14.4 percent of Egypt's exports of agricultural crops, topping the list of importers for this sector in the past nine months of 2015.
Saudi Arabia's imports of crops from Egypt stood at 1.9 billion Egyptian pounds (US$236.7 million) by the end of September 2015.
According to the latest report by the Egyptian General Organization for Export and Import Control, Egypt's exports of agricultural crops have retreated 1 percent to record 13 billion pounds during the period from January until September in 2015, compared to 13.1 billion pounds in the same period a year earlier.
The report also added that Russia has ranked second in the list of crops importers' list from Egypt, with imports valued at 1.8 billion pounds, followed by Britain with imports worth 792 million pounds, and then Netherlands with imports of 731 million pounds.
Furthermore, the report found that citrus has topped Egypt's list of crops exports during the last nine months of 2015, with exports valued at 3.1 billion pounds, followed by fruit exports worth 2.5 billion pounds, and potatoes exports at value of 1.8 billion pounds.
Garlic and onion exports have recorded 1.5 billion pounds, whereas peanut exports are estimated at 1.2 billion pounds.
Meanwhile, vegetables, rice and other agriculture crops exports have registered 843 million, 378 million, and 377 million pounds, respectively.
Moreover, aromatic plants exports have hit 304 million pounds by the end of September this year. The exports of cut flowers and ornamental plants have reached 158 million pounds. Exports of grains and palms have registered 10 million and 2 million pounds, respectively.
