The Egyptian exports of rice recorded EGP 236 million in November, compared to EGP 112 million throughout the period from January to October 2012. This increase came due to the decision of lifting ban on rice released by the Minister of Industry. The exporting value of rice pushed the crops' exports up to 72% in November; recording EGP 755 million, compared to EGP 438 million at the same time in 2011. The cumulative value of the crops' exports from January to November 2012 amounted to EGP 9.1 billion, decreased by 7%, compared to EGP 9.8 billion last year. Meanwhile, the Egyptian exports of citrus and fruit reached EGP 2.5 billion, at EGP 2.4 billion exporting value, and the peanuts approached EGP 900 million. The Arab countries received EGP 3.7 billion Egyptian crops, while the EU market received exports estimated with EGP 2.8 billion, and EGP 899 exports to Russia. Mohsen El Gebaly, Member of the Agriculture Export Council (AEC), told Amwal Al Ghad that the government's decision of exporting rice is expected to continue its push to the crops' exports in December 2012; especially Egypt has surplus of rice reaches more than 1.5 million tons.
