In 11 Months, Egypt's Agricultural Crops Edge up to EGP 13.9 Billion

Egypt's exports of agricultural crops have achieved a 5% y-o-y growth to reach EGP 13.9 billion by end of November 2014, from EGP 13.2 billion.
According to a report released on Wednesday by the Foreign Trade sector, Egypt's potato exports, during the period from January-November 2014, reached EGP 2.3 billion from EGP 1.4 billion last year, marking a 61% jump. Moreover, the country's peanut exports increased by 50.6 % to EGP 2.2 billion, from EGP 1.5 billion.
During January-November 2014, fruit exports arised to EGP 2.7 billion from EGP 2.6 billion the same period a year earlier, making a 5.7 % increase. In addition, the palm trees and cereal exports also grew to EGP 11 million and EGP 10 million, respectively.
Furthermore, exports of flowers and ornamental plants hiked by 5.6 % to reach EGP 246 million January-November 2014, up from EGP 233 million in 2013. Similarly, exports of other agricultural crops rose to EGP 425 million.
On the contrary, the exports of other sectors witnessed a decrease in the past eleven month. Egyptian citrus exports during January-November 2014 lowered from EGP 3.5 billion to be EGP 3 billion. Also, the garlic and onion exports decreased from EGP 1.5 billion at the end of November 2013 to EGP 1.1 billion in November 2014, representing a 21.3 % decrease.
At the end of November 2014, Egyptian rice exports retreated to EGP 176 million from EGP 1.4 billion in November-end 2013, with an 88% decrease. At end-November 2014, vegetables exports dropped by 10.6 % to EGP 992 million, from EGP 1.1 billion at end-November 2013.
Medicinal plant exports also tumbled to EGP 344 million during the period of January-November 2014.
Arab countries have captured the lion's share of the Egyptian agricultural crops, attaining EGP 5.8 billion. The European Union countries ranked second, receiving Egyptian exports of EGP 3.6 billion. Third, the USA obtained EGP 69 million worth of Egyptian exports.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian agricultural crops' exports to other countries reached EGP 3 billion.
