Russia has topped the crops importers' list from Egypt in the last eight months of 2015. With imports valued at 1.8 billion Egyptian pounds (US$229.8 million), Russia has captured 14.6 percent of the Egyptian exports of crops. According to the General Organization for Export and Import Control's latest report, Egypt's agriculture crops exports have retreated 2 percent to record 12.1 billion pounds during the period from January until August in 2015, opposed to 12.4 billion pounds a year earlier. The report also added that Saudi Arabia has ranked second in the crops importers' list from Egypt, with imports valued at 1.7 billion pounds, followed by Netherland with imports worth 727 million pounds, and then UAE with imports of 700 million pounds. Furthermore, the report found that citrus exports have topped Egypt's list of crops exports during the last eight months, with exports valued at 3.1 billion pounds, followed by fruit exports worth 2.4 billion pounds, and potatoes exports worth 1.8 billion pounds. Garlic and onion exports have recorded 1.2 billion pounds, whereas peanut exports are estimated at 1.1 billion pounds. Meanwhile, vegetables, rice and other agriculture crops exports have registered 797 million, 347 million, and 333 million pounds, respectively. Moreover, aromatic plants exports have hit 274 million pounds by the end of August this year. The exports of cut flowers and ornamental plants have reached 158 million pounds. Exports of grains and palms have registered 9 million and 2 million pounds, respectively.
