Egypt's exports of ready-made clothes reached 2.4 billion Egyptian pounds ($314.6 million) in the first quarter of 2015, marking 5% drop, the General Organization for Exports and Import Control's (GOIEC) monthly report showed. In Q1 2014, Egypt's read made clothes exports recorded 2.5 billion pounds ($327.8 million). The report stated that clothes sector exports made 737 million pounds in March 2015, opposed to 807 million pounds in March 2014, signaling a 9% decrease. According to the report, formal wear was on the top of Egypt's ready-made cloth exports, recording 867 million pounds during January-March 2015. Coming second, the informal wear seized exports worth 824 million pounds, and other ready-made clothes reported 461 million pound exports. Furthermore, GOIEC's report showed that exports of sportswear hit 158 million pounds at end-March 2015, while children's clothing registered 28 million pounds. Moreover, Egypt's top ready-made clothes importers are; the United States (1.2 billion pounds), followed by Turkey (270 million pounds), then UK (199 million pounds), and Spain (161 million pounds).
