CAIRO: The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) reported that the value of total exports increased from 9.921 billion Egyptian pounds to 12.47 billion Egyptian pounds, an increase of 25.7 percent through July. This came during the summary monthly foreign trade data issued by the agency every two months, pointing out that the most important goods, which increased the value of exports is in the “export of fertilizers from 185.3 million pounds to 508.6 million pounds, an increase of 174.5 percent and dairy products from 219.4 million pounds to 337.9 million pounds, an increase of 54 percent.” The statement also pointed to an increase in crude oil exports from 929.8 million pounds to 1.046 billion pounds, an increase of 12.5 percent and exports of pulp and a variety of food preparations from 170.4 million pounds to 244 million pounds, an increase of 43.2 percent. Ahmed Radwan, an investment analyst with CAPMAS, said the rise in exports shows “efforts to bolster trade is on the rise.” He told Bikya Masr, “the agreements with Europe, the United States and elsewhere are proving to be successful.” The value of exports of ready-made clothing also increased from 589.2 million pounds to 672.3 million pounds, an increase of 14.1 percent, the value of exports of tiles and ceramic sanitary products also increased from 183.5 million pounds to 195 million pounds, an increase of 6.3 percent, CAPMAS reported. As for the country's main commodities, in which its value witnessed a decrease were dry beans, from 87.1 million pounds to 62.3 million pounds, a decline of 28.5 percent, and lower exports of oils and fats, vegetable and animal products from 55.8 million pounds to 54.2 million pounds, a decline of 2.9 percent and the “down value of exports of rice from 265.2 million pounds to 29.7 million pounds, a decline of 88.8 percent.” CAPMAS also noted a decline in exports of medicines from 111.2 million pounds to 105.7 million pounds, a decrease of 4.9 percent, exports of furniture from 106.5 million pounds to 97.6 million pounds, a decline of 8.4 percent, and the value of exports of different kinds of coal decreased from 97 million pounds to 79.9 million pounds, a drop of 17.6 percent, the value of exports of plastics in primary forms fell from 107.3 million pounds to 86.8 million pounds, a decline of 19.1 percent.
