Egyptian security forces have been deployed across the capital in anticipation of protests planned by supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi on Friday. Security presence has intensified in Cairo's Tahrir Square and Ramsis Square, sites of regular protests, as well as Rabaa Al-Adawiya Square, where a Brotherhood led sit-in was violently dispersed in August. Morsi supporters have been taking to the streets since his ouster on 3 July demanding his reinstatement. This Friday, demonstrations are protesting his trial over charges of espionage. The deposed leader and thirty five co-defendants – including prominent members of his Muslim Brotherhood and former presidential advisers – will face trial for "collaborating with foreign organisations to commit terrorist acts in Egypt, revealing defence secrets to a foreign country, funding terrorists and military training to achieve the purposes of the international organisation of the Brotherhood," a statement by the prosecutor-general's office said.
