Remittances from Egyptians working abroad surged 42.8 per cent in the first ten months of 2025, underscoring a strong rebound in foreign currency inflows, data from the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) showed on Sunday. Inflows rose to $33.9 billion between January and October, up from $23.7 billion in the same period a year earlier, the central bank said, marking one of the strongest performances on record. On a monthly basis, remittances climbed sharply in October, increasing 26.2 per cent year on year to $3.7 billion, compared with $2.9 billion in October 2024. Remittances are a critical source of hard currency for Egypt, helping to support the balance of payments and bolster foreign exchange liquidity amid ongoing efforts to stabilise the economy.
