Mohamed El-Shimy, Minister of the Public Enterprises Sector, held a meeting with the newly formed Board of Directors of Misr Travel, a subsidiary of the Holding Company for Tourism and Hotels (HOTAC), to review the company's future vision and development plans. The meeting was chaired by Mohamed Saeed Mahrous, Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board, and attended by Amr Attia, Managing Director of the Holding Company for Tourism and Hotels, and Ahmed Askalani, Managing Director of Misr Travel. During the meeting, the board presented its new business strategy aimed at restoring Misr Travel's pioneering position as one of Egypt's most established and prestigious tourism brands since its founding in 1934, while upgrading performance to keep pace with rapid global developments in the tourism industry. El-Shimy emphasized that Misr Travel represents a key national entity within Egypt's tourism sector. He noted that a comprehensive development plan is currently underway, focusing on enhancing the quality and standards of the company's tourism products and services. This, he said, will strengthen Misr Travel's competitiveness at both local and international levels and reflect Egypt's civilizational image as a leading global tourist destination. The Minister highlighted the importance of accelerating digital transformation, particularly through the expansion of electronic booking systems and the modernization of tourism programs. He also stressed the need to upgrade the company's tourist transport fleet and limousine services, while increasing reliance on locally manufactured products—especially vehicles produced by El Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Company—in support of national industry and greater integration among Public Enterprises Sector companies. El-Shimy further underlined the necessity of developing high-quality tourism offerings and raising customer service standards in line with the latest international benchmarks. The meeting also addressed development plans for hotels affiliated with Misr Travel and upcoming expansion projects, including the redevelopment of the Romance Hotel in Alexandria. The project aims to increase hotel capacity and enhance service levels, alongside the development of the Nile Crystal floating restaurants. In parallel, discussions focused on maximizing the utilization of Misr Travel's assets and branches nationwide, including the Misr Travel Tower in Abbassia, through redeployment into multi-purpose uses that generate the highest possible economic return. Additionally, El-Shimy stressed the importance of expanding events and conference tourism, adopting modern digital marketing tools, and increasing participation in both international and domestic tourism exhibitions to enhance brand visibility and market presence. The Minister concluded by reaffirming that the development of Misr Travel is a key component of the Ministry of Public Enterprises Sector's broader strategy to maximize asset returns and strengthen the contribution of affiliated companies to supporting Egypt's national economy.
