Mohamed El-Shimy, Minister of Public Enterprises Sector, convened a meeting with the heads of companies under the Holding Company for Tourism and Hotels to review the latest developments in ongoing projects, financial performance indicators, and efforts related to technical, financial, and administrative restructuring. This review is part of the Minister's ongoing commitment to overseeing the progress of development initiatives and boosting the performance of the sectors under his ministry.

The meeting focused on the advancement of hotel development projects in prime tourism destinations, including downtown Cairo, Aswan, Luxor, and Damietta. Key topics included the renovation and modernization of existing hotels, the revitalization of historically significant properties with cultural and tourism value, and the expansion of hotel capacity across various governorates. The discussions also covered initiatives aimed at enhancing the tourism sector as a whole.

El-Shimy further reviewed efforts to modernize the fleet of Misr Travel Company, emphasizing the need for improved service quality, products, and tourism programs to attract more visitors. In addition, the meeting addressed the latest progress on upgrading several tourist restaurants to improve visitor experiences.

Another major focus of the meeting was the performance of Misr Company for Sound and Light, which plays a critical role in Egypt's tourism sector. The Minister highlighted efforts to elevate these shows, ensuring they better showcase Egypt's cultural and historical heritage. The conversation also included the introduction of virtual reality shows, part of a broader initiative to use modern technologies to make Egypt's rich heritage more accessible to a global audience.

Attendees at the meeting included Magid El-Menshawy, Chairman of the Holding Company for Tourism and Hotels, and Amr Attia, Executive Managing Director of the company. El-Shimy also followed up on the modernization of commercial branches and the revitalization of historic brands such as Hano, Benzion, Sednaoui, and Omar Effendi, aiming to preserve these valuable assets while reinforcing their role in Egypt's retail market.

The Minister reaffirmed the government's dedication to advancing the tourism and hospitality sector, recognizing its significant contribution to the national economy. He underscored that both current and future projects are focused on elevating the quality of tourism services and products to international standards. El-Shimy emphasized the importance of adhering to project timelines, optimizing the use of assets, maximizing returns, and fostering stronger private sector partnerships—all in alignment with the goal of sustainable development within the tourism and hospitality sectors.
