Egypt's annual core inflation edged up to 12.5 per cent in November from 12.1 per cent a month earlier, Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) data showed on Wednesday, indicating a mild pickup in underlying price pressures. Month-on-month core consumer prices recorded 0.8 per cent in November, easing from October's 2.0 per cent increase but higher than the 0.4 per cent recorded in November 2024, the central bank said. Core inflation — which excludes volatile items such as food and energy — is a key gauge for policymakers as they assess the direction of interest rates. The CBE said it will publish its full inflation bulletin on 15 December. Source: Amwal Al Ghad English
