Egypt's Investment and Foreign Minister Hassan El-Khatib met on Wednesday with Italian Ambassador Michele Quaroni and Tecnocap CEO Michelangelo Morlicchio to discuss the company's expansion in Egypt and prospects for broader industrial cooperation, the ministry said. The talks reviewed Tecnocap's global growth strategy, which aims to make it the world's second-largest producer of metal closures, aerosol cans and labels. Egypt was highlighted as a strategic partner, given its domestic market, low production costs and role as a gateway to African markets. El-Khatib said plans include assembling pressing machines in Egypt, building a local technical support team, and taking advantage of the country's trade agreements, including one with the United States, to expand exports. He also pointed to Egypt's supportive investment climate and the emergence of machinery start-ups exporting to more than 15 countries. Quaroni praised growing economic ties between Egypt and Italy, describing industrial cooperation as a core element of the partnership. Morlicchio said Tecnocap intends to establish a training academy for Egyptian technicians and expand into new packaging-related sectors. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: Y.Yasser
