Egypt held its position as the world's fourth-largest exporter of steamed, boiled or uncooked frozen vegetables in 2024, with a 7 per cent global market share, the Food Export Council (FEC) said on Monday, citing official trade data. Exports reached $74 million and 73,000 tons last year, rising 5 per cent in value and volume between 2020 and 2024. From 2023 to 2024, export value grew by 15 per cent, according to the General Organisation for Export and Import Control (GOEIC). The top five markets were Russia ($11.6 million), the United States ($7.2 million), Palestine ($7.1 million), Saudi Arabia ($6.3 million) and the UAE ($5.3 million), together accounting for 51 per cent of shipments. "Continued growth highlights Egypt's global competitiveness and supports opportunities for expansion into new markets." the FEC said. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: Y.Yasser
