Egypt secured a 15.4 per cent share of the global market for provisionally preserved vegetables in 2024, ranking second worldwide, according to a report from the Food Export Council (FEC) released on Sunday. The report added that export value hit $66 million, with 54,000 tons shipped. Annual growth rates from 2020 to 2024 were 15 per cent in value and 12 per cent in volume, with a 10 per cent increase in value from 2023 to 2024. Top importers were Italy ($33 million), the US ($8 million), Germany ($7 million), Spain ($4 million), and Russia ($3 million), together accounting for 83 per cent of Egypt's exports in this category. This sustained strong performance highlights Egypt's competitive edge in the food processing and agricultural products sector, paving the way for further expansion into new global markets.
