Egypt's Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has intensified oversight of petroleum product circulation, with recent field campaigns uncovering violations and leading to the seizure of more than 100,400 litres of illegally stockpiled diesel and gasoline, worth over 3 million Egyptian pounds, in Assiut and Alexandria. The central committee of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) moved swiftly in response to reports in Cairo, addressing complaints at fuel stations, resolving operational issues, and restoring regular service. In Assiut, 44,400 litres of fuel were seized, while in Alexandria about 56,000 litres were confiscated. The campaigns also revealed operational and environmental violations at several depots and stations, including shortcomings in safety and maintenance standards. Companies were instructed to promptly rectify these issues, while some stations were confirmed to be fully compliant with service quality and operational requirements. EGPC's central monitoring and control room continues to oversee petroleum product stocks and circulation around the clock through digital platforms, enabling immediate intervention to maintain stable supplies. The oversight campaigns form part of broader efforts to enforce discipline in distribution, curb manipulation and violations, and ensure the highest levels of safety and efficiency to protect public funds and citizens' rights.
