The United States has outlined a 15-year schedule to hold more than 30 offshore oil and gas lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska's Cook Inlet. The programme, introduced under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, signals a major policy shift from the previous administration's limited auctions aimed at tackling climate change. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said it will bolster energy dominance, create jobs, and expand offshore resource development. The schedule includes 30 offshore Gulf lease sales through 2040, starting with the first on December 10, followed by two annually until 2039 and one in 2040. Six auctions are also planned for Cook Inlet between 2026 and 2032. Attribution: Reuters Subediting: M. S. Salama
