Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly met on Wednesday with Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike ahead of the TICAD 9 Summit in Japan, where he is representing President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. Madbouly praised Koike's role in strengthening bilateral ties and reaffirmed Egypt's interest in expanding Japanese schools in Egypt and benefiting from Japan's expertise in education. He also highlighted cooperation through the Egyptian-Japanese University of Science and Technology and called for more student exchange between the two countries. The Prime Minister pointed to the growing role of Egyptian youth in entrepreneurship, stressed opportunities for cooperation in transport development with JICA, and invited Koike to attend the Grand Egyptian Museum inauguration, noting Japan's role in its establishment and the ongoing Ramses II exhibition in Japan. Koike welcomed the meeting, describing Egypt as a strategic gateway to the Arab region and Africa, and expressed her desire to enhance cooperation in education and entrepreneurship. She also anticipated the signing of memoranda of understanding during the Egyptian delegation's visit and noted that 150 Japanese students had recently studied in Egypt.
