Egypt's Minister of Planning Rania Al Mashat held a meeting on Sunday with Japan's Ambassador to Egypt IWAI Fumio and JICA's Chief Representative in Egypt Ebisawa Yu to discuss strengthening bilateral economic ties. The meeting addressed preparations for the upcoming Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), scheduled for August 20-22, 2025. Talks highlighted key areas of cooperation, particularly in education, health, human capital investment, scientific research, the green economy, and private sector engagement through Japanese financial institutions. Both sides also reaffirmed their anticipation for the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum in early November and their commitment to completing Phase Four of the Greater Cairo Metro project. Al Mashat stressed the importance of TICAD 9 in reinforcing Africa-Japan relations, promoting South-South and trilateral cooperation, and building constructive partnerships to support sustainable development across Africa.
