Egypt's Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Cairo's contacts with countries rumoured to have agreed to receive Palestinians confirmed that none had accepted such "reprehensible plans." The ministry affirmed that Egypt will not accept or participate in any displacement, describing it as a historic injustice with no moral or legal basis. It said such a move would inevitably lead to the liquidation of the Palestinian cause. Egypt called on all peace-loving nations not to be involved in what it described as an "immoral crime" that contravenes international humanitarian law, constitutes a war crime and ethnic cleansing, and represents a flagrant violation of the four Geneva Conventions. The statement warned of the historical and legal responsibility that would fall on any party taking part in what it called a heinous crime, with its serious political consequences at regional and international levels.
