Gross domestic product in the euro area grew by 0.1 per cent in the second quarter of 2025, while the EU recorded 0.2 per cent growth compared with the previous quarter, Eurostat reported on Thursday. Growth in the first quarter had been 0.6 per cent in the euro area and 0.5 per cent in the EU. On a yearly basis, GDP rose 1.4 per cent in the euro area and 1.5 per cent in the EU, slightly down from 1.5 per cent and 1.6 per cent, respectively, in Q1. Employment in both the euro area and the EU increased 0.1 per cent quarter-on-quarter and 0.7 per cent year-on-year, indicating steady expansion in the labour market.
