Euro area annual inflation declined to 2.4 per cent in February 2025 from 2.5 per cent in January, according to a flash estimate from Eurostat. Services inflation recorded the highest annual rate at 3.7 per cent, though down from 3.9 per cent in January. Food, alcohol, and tobacco inflation rose to 2.7 per cent from 2.3 per cent, while non-energy industrial goods inflation stood at 0.6 per cent, up slightly from 0.5 per cent. Energy prices, however, grew just 0.2 per cent year-on-year, a sharp drop from 1.9 per cent in January. The latest figures suggested a gradual easing of inflationary pressures in the eurozone, with price growth remaining above the European Central Bank's (ECB) 2 per cent target.
