Euro area annual inflation is expected to be 2.5 per cent in January 2025, slightly up from 2.4 per cent in December 2024, according to Eurostat's flash estimate on Monday. Services are poised to have the highest annual inflation rate at 3.9 per cent, though slightly down from 4.0 per cent in December. Food, alcohol, and tobacco inflation are also set to fall to 2.3 per cent, compared to 2.6 per cent in December. Energy inflation is projected to 1.8 per cent, from just 0.1 per cent the previous month, while non-energy industrial goods inflation to remain stable at 0.5 per cent.
