Egypt's Ministry of Health and Population reported that a minor fire broke out early Wednesday in the intensive care unit on the third floor of Helwan General Hospital, Cairo. The fire was fully contained, with no injuries or fatalities. Sixteen patients were transferred under medical supervision in fully equipped ambulances to Helwan Fever Hospital, Al-Nasr Health Insurance Hospital, and El Tebeen Central Hospital, with their health conditions stable and continuing to receive necessary care. A comprehensive evaluation of the incident is underway to ensure medical services continue at high standards of safety and quality. The ministry affirmed its adherence to crisis management procedures, prioritising patient safety and service continuity. The ministry said the hospital followed professional protocols, including the rapid and safe evacuation of patients by staff and coordination with relevant authorities, including Civil Defense, to control the fire.
