Egypt's Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) marked a major milestone on Wednesday with the groundbreaking of two Indian alloy manufacturing plants, Ferro Genesis and Willow Ferro, in Tech Valley, East Ismailia. The two projects represent the first wave of investment in the strategic Tech Valley zone, with the initial phase of both combined valued at $40 million. Ferro Genesis will be developed in two confirmed phases, with a potential third phase under discussion. The plant will produce silico manganese and ferro silicon using quartz and manganese ore—key components in high-quality steel manufacturing. The first phase of the project involves a$15 million investment, covering 35,000 square metres and creating150 direct jobs. Willow Ferro, the second project, will be developed in two phases, with the first spanning 40,000 square metres at a total cost of $25 million. It is expected to create 120 direct jobs. The capacity of the plant is expected to reach 36,000 tons of silico manganese per year and will initially produce ferro silicon and ferro chrome during its early operational phase.
