Egypt's National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has expanded the available customs duties payment methods in its Telephony app, as per its report. The authority has also enabled payments through the Khadamaty network, mobile wallets, and the Meeza card, providing more flexible and secure payment options, the statement added. Current payment options now include debit or credit cards from all banks and cash payments at select branches of the National Bank of Egypt (NBE), Al Ahli United Bank (AUB), Housing and Development Bank (HDB), and the Export Development Bank of Egypt (EBank), in addition to e-wallets, Khadamaty and Meeza. The initiative comes as part of NTRA's broader strategy to enhance the governance of mobile phone usage in Egypt and support the country's digital transformation efforts, according to the announcement.
