Hassan Ghanem — Chairperson and Managing Director of the Housing and Development Bank (HDB) — said that the bank is adopting an expansion strategy in the field of digital transformation that comes at the top of its list of priorities.
He explained that the bank was able within a short period to achieve clear achievements and steady steps towards digital transformation. It also aims to reach the largest base of customers to support financial inclusion and spread a culture of electronic payment by developing and modernising its technological infrastructure and providing it with the latest digital systems through growing investments.
He also indicated that within the framework of implementing the development plan set by the bank to expand digital banking services, HDB launched a new package of services to support its digital banking strategy through its internet and mobile banking services.
Moreover, the second version of the internet and mobile banking services (HDB Net) was launched to include the activation of more digital services, including nearly 50 services, the most important of which is the possibility of making transfers between local accounts outside the bank.
The new package of services included the ability to manage various cards, like direct debit cards, credit cards, and prepaid cards, in addition to opening new accounts, linking and breaking savings certificates, paying various loan installments and other distinguished services through which customers can manage their bank accounts with ease and security .
"To continue supporting this digital system and achieving the highest levels of efficiency and quality, the bank aims to launch a new service for its customers that allows instant transfer inside and outside the bank through the INSTAPay and HDB Net application to transfer from the customer's account to any other account inside or outside the bank or any wallet. It also includes electronic or credit cards as well as direct debit and prepaid cards," Ghanem said.
He pointed out that the bank believes in the importance of expanding the use of electronic payments and transforming into a cashless society, as it was was one of the first to offer anelectronic wallet service called 'Floos Phone' with a wide range of distinguished services while allowing users to pay off their housing unit installments on the app.
Furthermore, Ghanem noted that the HDB was one of the first banks to disburse state salaries through Meeza cards, which allow their holders to make payments at any time as well as disburse and deposit funds.
He also stressed that the HDB will continue to implement and develop its expansion strategy in order to satisfy customers by providing competitive and distinguished banking products and services with the aim of increasing its market share and attracting more customers.
