Egypt's El-Wazir pushes for stronger economic links at Kuwait investment forum

Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir participated Wednesday in the Egyptian-Kuwaiti Investment Forum in Kuwait City, as Cairo looks to deepen economic cooperation and attract Gulf investment into its industrial and infrastructure sectors.
The forum, hosted by the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, brought together more than 30 Kuwaiti companies alongside key industry groups such as the Kuwait Contractors' Union (KCU) and the Kuwait Transport Companies Federation.
Minister El-Wazir highlighted Egypt's recent economic reforms and infrastructure push, inviting Kuwaiti investors to explore opportunities in sectors including transport, construction, and manufacturing. "Egypt is building a modern, productive economy, supported by a strong industrial base and investor-friendly policies," he said in a ministry statement.
As part of the visit, the minister led a delegation of 17 Egyptian companies specialising in infrastructure and mega-projects. The firms showcased completed projects both in Egypt and abroad and expressed interest in contributing to Kuwait's national development plans with high-quality, cost-effective services.
The Egyptian minister was received by senior Kuwaiti officials including Chamber Director-General Rabah Al-Rabah, Assistant Director-General Feras Al Ouda, and Egyptian Ambassador Osama Shaltout.
Kuwaiti officials welcomed the Egyptian participation, with Al Ouda noting the depth of bilateral ties and the Chamber's commitment to expanding trade and investment flows between the two countries. Representatives from Kuwait's financial sector, including Kuwait Finance House and the Banking Association, expressed willingness to finance joint projects in Egypt.
Officials from the KCU also voiced interest in involving Egyptian firms in domestic construction projects, while several Kuwaiti companies signalled plans to enter the Egyptian market.
Minister El-Wazir's visit is part of broader efforts by Egypt to attract Gulf capital and position itself as a regional hub for industrial development.
