Egypt is exploring partnerships with Swiss nutrition firm Medifood and French infant formula producer Modilac to locally manufacture therapeutic food products for patients suffering from chronic and acute health conditions, the health ministry said on Tuesday. Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with executives from both companies to discuss investment opportunities in Egypt's growing medical nutrition sector. Talks focused on producing specialised food formulas to treat malnutrition associated with diseases such as cancer, diabetes, kidney and liver conditions, and inflammatory disorders. The project aims to establish joint Egyptian-Swiss-French production lines that meet international standards and serve both domestic and regional markets, the statement added. "This partnership marks a step toward building a successful integration model between Egypt, Switzerland and France, positioning the Egyptian market as a destination for investment in the health and therapeutic food industry," Minister Abdel Ghaffar said. Egypt showcased its industrial infrastructure and skilled labour as key advantages in the planned collaboration. The minister also pointed to Lacto Misr, a local food manufacturer, as a potential platform for the venture. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English
