Canada's Aton Resources reported high-grade gold and silver intercepts at its Abu Marawat concession in Egypt's Eastern Desert, the petroleum ministry said Friday, citing results from the company's ongoing diamond drilling programme. The company's latest drill results revealed mineral-rich intersections, including 33.86 grams per ton (g/t) of gold and 419 g/t of silver, as well as another intercept of 44.59 g/t of gold and 103 g/t of silver. Aton launched the current phase of drilling in June 2024, completing 113 holes covering a total of 9,642.7 metres. The programme targeted previously untested near-surface mineralised zones, with most holes drilled horizontally or at shallow angles to optimise mineral penetration. "These results confirm the presence of high-value mineralisation at depth and reflect the rich geological potential of the Abu Marawat concession," the ministry said in its statement. The findings build on earlier exploration successes and are expected to support the development of a high-grade mining project. They also align with Egypt's broader strategy to attract foreign investment into its mining sector and unlock the potential of the Arabian-Nubian Shield. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English
