Egypt's Cabinet has approved an exemption from entertainment tax for national festivals organised by the General Authority for National Cultural Centre during the 2025–2026 cultural season in Cairo, Alexandria, and Damanhour, as per a report. The Ministry of Finance will pay the entertainment tax on behalf of the Cairo Opera House for events like Opera Aida, the Summer Festival for Music and Singing, the Arab Music Festival, and the Citadel Festival for Music and Singing. The move is part of the Ministry of Culture's plan to support the government's sustainable development goals and promote cultural equity. It aims to broaden access to high-quality artistic performances across Egypt, particularly for low-income strata, and to elevate public cultural taste.
