Egypt's flagship Made in Damietta furniture exhibition has recorded total sales and contracts worth 400 million Egyptian pounds since its launch in 2016, said Basil Rahmy, CEO of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA), Wednesday. Rahmy made the remarks during a tour of the 24th edition of the exhibition in Cairo, held from June 26 to July 5, alongside Damietta Governor Ayman El-Shahaby. The event features dozens of furniture manufacturers from the coastal governorate, known for its craftsmanship and woodwork tradition. The current edition showcases a wide selection of high-quality, competitively priced furniture, including bedrooms, dining sets, and living rooms. More than 1,200 businesses have participated in the exhibition since its inception. Rahmy said MSMEDA is implementing an ambitious plan with the governorate to expand support for furniture businesses, especially in financing, marketing, and technical development. Since July 2014, MSMEDA has disbursed around 270 million pounds to fund over 6,000 furniture projects in Damietta, creating nearly 19,000 jobs. He also highlighted a joint initiative called Tadoom Damietta (Lasting Damietta), which aims to provide loans averaging 400,000 pounds per project to help workshops expand and reach new markets. The exhibition is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Cairo International Fairgrounds in Nasr City. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: Y.Yasser
