At the 10th Builders of Egypt Forum in Cairo on Sunday, the ambassadors of India and Türkiye affirmed their countries' willingness to deepen cooperation with Egypt in urban development, infrastructure, and sustainable coastal planning. Indian Ambassador to Cairo Suresh K. Reddy praised Egypt's rapid urban development and highlighted the untapped potential between Indian and Egyptian private sectors. Speaking during a panel session, Reddy called for stronger partnerships in infrastructure, technology, and smart city initiatives. He noted the shared challenges of population growth and urban expansion, particularly in coastal areas. Reddy outlined India's approach to addressing these issues through smart technologies and coastal resilience projects backed by multi-million-dollar investments. He stressed the importance of financing green transition efforts and encouraged Indian firms to explore opportunities in Egypt's development plans. In a separate session, Turkish Ambassador to Cairo Salih Mutlu Şen reaffirmed Türkiye's commitment to working with Egypt on sustainable coastal development. Şen said climate change had made regional cooperation essential. He outlined Turkey's use of modern infrastructure and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in building sustainable cities, especially in tourist areas. Şen also highlighted the financial model supporting Turkey's efforts, including central and local government funding, private sector input, and European financing. He pointed to Turkey's Sustainable Tourism initiative—covering more than 20,000 hotels—as a model for effective coastal governance. Both ambassadors emphasised the urgency of regional cooperation and offered their countries' expertise and investment to support Egypt's goals for building resilient, future-ready cities.
